According to a recent report in the Beijing Daily, more than 100 small- and medium-sized MP3 player production lines have stopped operations in the past few months, as competition has become fiercer due to improving capacity of memory chips and decreasing prices. The report mentioned that two years ago, there were about 300 MP3 player manufacturers in China, but this number has gone down to around 100 after the recent closures.
